Find the fault before you buy the part
A warning light tells you something is wrong. It does not tell you what. Tony reads the codes, watches live data, tests the circuit against the factory wiring diagram, and confirms the fault before any part goes on the vehicle.

Approach
How the job runs
- Step 1
Read the codes and the history
Tony pulls the stored codes from every module on the vehicle, engine and all, and reads the freeze-frame data to see what the vehicle was doing when the fault set.
- Step 2
Test the circuit
The code says which circuit set the fault. He checks live data, tests the wiring and the sensor on the factory diagram, and tries to make the fault happen in the bay or on the road.
- Step 3
Confirm, then quote
Once he knows what it is, he tells you in plain words and prices the repair. You decide from there.

The dealer has the same scan tools Tony trained on, and charges dealer labour to use them. He does not book you in for a week either. Same equipment, same factory data, an independent rate, and the person who reads the data is the person who explains it to you.
What you leave with
- The code, and what it actually meant on your vehicle
- The test that proved it, not a guess off the code alone
- A written quote before anything is replaced
- A re-scan afterwards to confirm the fault is gone
Cost
What moves the price
Diagnostic time is quoted before it starts. What it costs comes down to how hard the fault is to catch, not how expensive the part turns out to be.
How long the fault takes to reproduce. A light that is on now is quicker than one that shows up twice a month.
Whether the circuit is buried. Some sensors are a two minute reach and some are under an intake manifold.
How much has already been replaced. Parts fitted on a guess elsewhere can mask the original fault.

Diagnostics questions
How much does a diagnostic cost?
Diagnostic time is quoted up front when you book, based on the symptom. You approve it before Tony starts, and the findings are explained to you before any repair is quoted.
Another shop already replaced parts and the light came back. Can you help?
Yes. That is a common one. A code names a circuit, not a part, and the part in that circuit is often fine. Tony starts from the code and the wiring diagram and tests until the actual cause is confirmed.
Can I just bring the code from the parts store scanner?
Bring it, it helps. A parts store scanner reads the engine module only and cannot see live data, the other modules or the wiring. That is where the real diagnosis happens.
My light comes on and goes off. Should I still come in?
Yes, and sooner is better. An intermittent fault stores history in the module that Tony can read even when the light is off. Waiting until it fails for good usually makes the fix bigger.
